It's Not Too Late

1.
The ice is breaking up around the rusted ships Praises on your tongue that never leave your lips I can give you what no one else can give you I'm alive for the first time every time I'm near you And if you love me, you don't have to say so You just have to hold me & never let go Love's the frozen soldier with his hand still on his gun Hasn't anybody told you the war's already won When you give me what no one else can give me I can see the future when you're asleep next to me And if it's all right, you don't have to say so And if it's OK, I'll already know
2.
I had a dream we starred in Exit Through The Gift Shop You were the distorted voice & I was Mr. Brainwash Ben Franklin on the underpass, he's holding up a boombox Your smile stayed with me like wheat paste on a paintbrush L train to Bedford to see Yumi Zouma DJ's playing The Smiths' "Girlfriend In A Coma" When the bar lets out we spill into the streetlight Bushwick's a litany of lullabies & streetfights No one knows who you are until you show your heart No one knows who you are when you're a work of art You are, you are, you are I watch the boats roll in before the opener begins What are you gonna do this time to set the world on fire again
3.
The prison yard on Valentine's Day Walls too high for you to climb If I've become everything that you hate then I guess we're all doing time I'm better off when I don't know Surrender never makes a sound I think it's better if you go & take those chains you drag around Do you rest your head against the bars The recriminations never stop How many secrets sleep inside your heart Do you keep every single one of them locked A blindfold held before your eyes A hood that's pulled over your face You can barely see the truth inside It vanishes from sight like a love that fades We're never given what we're promised Where does a dream go when it dies You asked me "Just this once, can you be honest?" Ripples in the pools of your eyes I'm better off when I don't know Surrender never makes a sound I think it's better if you go & take those chains you drag around
4.
Black Hondas 02:30
The sun is brighter than ever And the air tastes even better when you've been underground I looked for you driving down Columbus forever Do you know how many black Hondas are in this town You run until your heart gives out You can spend years being asleep You can black out all the pages on a map Until they hold no memories I tried to change I said goodbye to all my shame for people who never love It's 2015 & it's time to get free I thought I already was

about

The penultimate EP in my semi-monthly release series featuring four new songs (& a bonus track) about watching ice break up & float down the Delaware River, eating meatballs & seeing Yumi Zouma in Brooklyn, Eastern State Penitentiary & the stupid things I used to think about when I'd run down the Delaware River Trail (I still run there but I think about slightly less stupid things). Hope you enjoy the music!

*This is the eleventh in a series of twelve EPs that I am releasing in 2014-15. Check out the SUBSCRIBE link up top for more info*
