So tired but keeping awake Your mind's already starting to race Endless questions for the furrow in your brow Burrowing further & further in the ground 2001, 41st & Baltimore West Philadelphia, you were just a girl Barstow, The Switch, Apple of Discord New York's Pilot To Gunner - they never showed "Those summer nights we never left behind" You ask what the struggle is for Is there ever anything more If you were already saved & just didn't know What if the answer is yes instead of no "You're still so quiet, you're still so tired" Secret words & hearts are locked away In the back of a Christmas photo frame Every time we kiss I start to shake Forgiveness I thought I'd never rate "Have you ever said the last goodbye"
2.
A second sight for all that hurts you An unwelcome premonition for those who would deny & desert you What are you hoping that you'll find when you're staying up till fountain time Is it unicorns or just a little thrill to get you by Your eyes are big & sad & doleful but there's a spark inside that's hopeful Do you really think you see the future A laugh that whips you all around like a 13th st wind Are you losing all your sense of direction Every accidental decision, every costly miscalculation Has brought you to this very moment Moments where you hesitate Chances that you never take It feels like you're a witness to someone else's heartbreak But it's been so long since I've been loved & there is no one else like you
3.
13th Street lights up like your eyes Little miracles suspended in the sky A frozen heart impossible to climb Where there's always hope there's always time I'm never really sure if I'm ever getting through When you shine like christmas lights under the moon Is there an answer for what you do Love is just an extra set of keys Always there in event of emergency Like a pair of gloves you leave lying in the street I know, I know, I know that you don't really need me You don't even know as night fades from your view Your laugh's a silver bell that's clear & true Is there an answer for what you do
4.
Topknots & beards are all right for some You say that you could never be that dumb Celebrate all you've overcome Sour grapes for all that you can't outrun When the light hits your hair just so There's a certain kind of way you glow Baby you don't even know The hate that penetrates your soul If you think possession is the only way to find the truth It's never gonna see you through Everybody wins but you Someone always takes the chance that's yours When you think you've given all that you can give They'll find a way to steal a little more When the sun hits your face just so There's a certain kind of way you glow Baby you don't even know The weight you carry in your soul If you think possession is the only way to find the truth It's never gonna see you through In the big reveal of your fatal flaw Even your tears are fake Empty sobs & a hollow heart In the lies you live & the love you make When the sun hits your face just so There's a certain kind of way you glow Baby you don't even know The weight you carry in your soul If you think that desire & possession are the only ways to the truth It's never gonna see you through

about

Four new songs for the start of the year including a love letter to the Funrama House in West Philadelphia, thoughts on the film adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's Wild, unapologetically being a tourist in one's own neighborhood & dealing with the stomachache I get every time I see someone with a topknot & beard.

*This is the ninth in a series of twelve EPs that I am releasing in 2014-15. Check out the SUBSCRIBE link up top for more info*
